Walk-in tubs for Tampa Bay homes
Tampa Bay spans two very different counties, from 1920s bungalows in Tampa to beach condos in Pinellas. Even the local aging agency depends on which side of the bay you live on.
Direct answer: Yes, we install walk-in tubs, transfer tubs and roll-in showers across Tampa Bay, including Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco. Older Tampa homes may need plumbing updates, and Pinellas beach condos usually need association approval. Call 1-888-779-2284 for a free quote.
Serving Tampa BayTwo sides of the bay, one simple process
Tampa Bay homeowners call about the same goal: a way to bathe without climbing over a tub wall. The houses they call from vary a lot. A 1920s bungalow in Seminole Heights, a 1960s block home in Clearwater, a new build in Wesley Chapel and a high-rise in downtown St. Petersburg each need a slightly different plan.
We help homeowners across Tampa Bay with walk-in tubs, wheelchair transfer tubs and roll-in showers. We do not run a showroom here. We plan by phone and photos, measure in your home and install from start to finish.
Bungalows and older homes in Tampa
Neighborhoods like Seminole Heights, Hyde Park, Tampa Heights and parts of Ybor City have many early 20th-century homes. Some sit on raised foundations rather than slabs, which can make plumbing access easier than in a slab home. Others have been updated many times, and you never quite know what is behind the tile until the old tub comes out.
Older bathrooms tend to be small, with narrow doors and tight hallways. Measuring the full delivery path matters as much as measuring the alcove. The Ella Lounger, for example, fits through 28-inch doorways.
Older-home checklist
- Measure the narrowest door and hallway turn
- Ask what is under the floor: slab or crawl space
- Expect the walls behind the old tub to need some repair
- Check the water heater, often tucked in a closet or garage
- Ask whether a historic district rule applies to any exterior work
Older plumbing and what it means for a walk-in tub
Homes from the first half of the 20th century in Tampa and St. Petersburg can still have original or partly replaced plumbing. That rarely stops a walk-in tub project, but it can change the quote, and it is better to know before the tub arrives.
Cast iron drains
Old cast iron drain lines can be cracked or narrowed by buildup. A slow drain line means a slower-draining tub, no matter how good the tub's own drain is.
Galvanized supply pipes
Galvanized steel supply lines corrode inside over time, which lowers water pressure. A fast-fill faucet fills more slowly on low pressure.
Valves and shutoffs
Old shutoffs often do not close fully. Replacing them during the install makes future repairs easier.
Mixed materials
Many homes have a patchwork of old and new pipe from past repairs. We note what we find during the measure so the quote reflects it.
Beach towns, condos and flood zones
Pinellas is a peninsula, and much of its coastline and barrier islands, from Clearwater Beach to St. Pete Beach and Treasure Island, sits in mapped flood zones. After recent storms, many coastal homes have been through repairs. If you are planning several projects, ask your city or county building department how it counts improvements under floodplain rules. Our climate guide explains why.
Condo and co-op buildings
Associations along the Gulf and in downtown St. Petersburg generally want an application, license and insurance documents, and a reserved elevator. Older mid-rise buildings may have smaller elevators, so measure the cab too.
Mobile and manufactured homes
Pinellas and Pasco have many manufactured-home communities. Floors and plumbing are built differently than in site-built homes, and tub weight matters. Tell us up front so we recommend the right model.

Brandon, Wesley Chapel and Sun City Center
Suburban Hillsborough and Pasco are full of slab-on-grade homes from the last few decades. For these, the plan is usually straightforward: match the drain side, check the water heater and choose the features you will use.
Sun City Center, in southern Hillsborough, is one of the region's best-known 55+ communities, and many of its homes are single-story with a hall bath and a primary bath. Two bathrooms give options: a walk-in tub in one and a standard tub or shower in the other for guests.

Tampa Bay walk-in tub FAQ
Can a walk-in tub go in an older Tampa bungalow?
Often, yes. Many have a standard tub alcove. The bigger questions are narrow doorways, what is behind the old tile and the plumbing under the floor. We measure the full path and look at the walls before quoting.
Can you install a walk-in tub in a manufactured home?
Sometimes. Floors, plumbing and space are different from site-built homes, and tub weight matters. Tell us it is a manufactured home on the first call so we can check the right details.
Who is the Area Agency on Aging for Pinellas County?
The Area Agency on Aging of Pasco-Pinellas serves Pinellas and Pasco counties. In Hillsborough, it is the Senior Connection Center. The Elder Helpline at 1-800-963-5337 connects you to either.
Why does my old tub drain so slowly, and will a walk-in tub fix it?
A slow drain is often caused by the home's drain line, not just the tub. Old cast iron lines can be narrowed by buildup. A walk-in tub with a fast drain helps, but if the line itself is restricted, it may need cleaning or repair to get the full benefit.
