Start with the space
Most regular tubs sit in a 60-inch opening. Many walk-in tubs are 52 inches long. Some are 55 or 60 inches. A 60-inch tub can fill the whole space. A 52-inch tub may need a small filler panel.
Check the seat width

Yes. Our white-glove installation includes a 1-year labor warranty. Hydro Dimensions supply-only DIY purchases also include a 1-year labor warranty.
Are your walk-in tubs made in the USA?
Hydro Dimensions tubs are handcrafted in the USA. Bestbath makes its products in Caldwell, Idaho and Sparta, Tennessee. Ella assembles and tests its walk-in tubs in the USA.

How many walk-in tub styles can I choose from?
We carry over 50 types and styles of walk in tubs, including wheelchair transfer baths. Ella alone offers more than 28 models across outward swing, inward swing, transfer, lay down and two-seat designs.
How long does walk-in tub installation take?
A simple swap of a standard tub often takes one to two days once the tub is on site. Plumbing changes, new electrical work or wall repairs can add time. Your quote will include a realistic timeline.
Will a walk-in tub fit where my bathtub is now?
Often, yes. Many standard tubs sit in a 60-inch space. Ella makes 60-inch models like the Transfer60, Ultimate, Lay Down 60 and Tub4Two, plus many 52-inch models. We measure your space, your doorways and your drain side first.
What is a wheelchair transfer walk-in tub?
A transfer tub has a wide L-shaped door that swings out. You slide from a wheelchair or transfer bench onto the seat, then swing your legs in. Ella transfer doors are 36 inches wide.
Should I pick an inward or outward swing door?
Inward swing doors need less floor space outside the tub. Outward swing doors give a wider, easier entry and make it simpler for a caregiver to help, but they need room to swing open. We measure your bathroom and help you choose.
Do I sit in the tub while it fills and drains?
Yes. The door must be closed before water goes in, and it opens after the water drains. That is true for every walk-in tub. A fast-fill faucet and a fast drain make the wait shorter.
How fast does an Ella walk-in tub drain?
Ella uses a gravity-driven dual 2-inch drain with four ports. Real drain times depend on your home's plumbing, so we check your drain during the quote.
Are air jets or water jets better?
It depends on what feels good to you. Air jets give gentle bubbles across the body, and Ella air systems run an auto purge after the bath. Water jets give a stronger, targeted massage. Some models offer both.
Is there a walk-in tub for tall or large bathers?
Yes. The Ella Big4One is built for bathers up to 7 feet tall. The TransferXXL has a 29-inch seat. The ShaK and Lay Down 72 offer extra length.
Can two people use a walk-in tub?
Yes. Ella makes two-seat walk-in tubs, including the Tub4Two, the Escape and the Big4Two.
Will my water heater be big enough?
Walk-in tubs hold a lot of water. Ella lists a suggested water heater size for each model. We check your water heater during the quote and tell you if it may come up short.
Does Medicare pay for a walk-in tub?
Original Medicare generally does not pay for walk-in tubs. Some Medicare Advantage plans offer bathroom safety benefits, but coverage varies. Call your plan and ask before you buy.
Can veterans get help paying for a walk-in tub?
Veterans may qualify for the VA HISA grant for medically necessary home changes. It is a lifetime benefit of up to $6,800 for a service-connected disability, or up to $2,000 for other eligible veterans. You apply through VA.
Are there Florida programs that help with bathroom accessibility?

Do I need condo or HOA approval?

Do jetted walk-in tubs need electrical work?
Yes. Jets and heaters need proper power, usually a dedicated GFCI-protected circuit installed to code. A soaking tub without jets does not.
Can I shower in a walk-in tub?
Yes. Most walk-in tubs include a handheld shower, so you can rinse while seated. Ella Lay Down models are made for both bathing and showering.
Do walk-in tubs come with a left or right drain?
Most do. Stand facing your tub and note which side the drain is on. Matching it keeps the install simpler, especially on a concrete slab.
Do walk-in tub doors leak?
A well-installed walk-in tub with a good seal should not leak. Leaks usually come from a dirty or worn seal, a door that is not fully latched or a tub that is not level. Keep the seal clean and call us if you see water near the door.
Are walk-in tubs hard to clean?
No. Rinse and wipe the tub after each bath. Use gentle cleaners that are safe for acrylic. If you have jets, follow Ella's steps for cleaning the lines.
What size is the Ella Transfer30?
The Ella Transfer30 is 30 inches wide and 52 inches long. It has a 22-inch seat and a 36-inch L-shaped outward swing door. It is Ella's most popular standard-size transfer tub.
Can a walk-in tub fit a small condo bathroom?
Often, yes. The Ella Mobile is 26 inches wide and 45 inches long, and the Petite is 28 inches wide. We measure your bathroom and doorways to find the best fit.
